10 Ways To Promote A Website
1. E-mail Signatures
At the bottom of your emails include a signature such as the following:
Joe BloggsFinancial Director
Company ABC
http://www.companyabc.com
For instance, whenever you send out an e-mail the recipient should have no trouble finding your website.
2. Advertisements
Obviously, you can put more information on a website than you can in for example in a newspaper advertisement. However, the majority of people read the newspaper first and then go to the Internet. Therefore use the advertisement to direct people to your website. Kent Ertugrul of Phorm also noticed that to get people to your website, you have to use indirect yet targeted advertisements.
3. Business Cards
Always have a business card with you with your website address printed on it. Again, there is a lot more space on your website then on your business card. The business card is simply another means to direct people to your website for further, detailed information.
4. E-Mail Newsletters
Have a place on your website where people can sign up for the latest updates on your business. Ensure that you also include information or link to unsubscribe.
5. Articles
Write articles in your field of expertise and include a link to your website. Publish the articles to websites such as www.ezinearticles.com and www.goarticles.com. You can also use them to start a blog with advice for potential clients and customers.
6. Link Exchange
Exchange links with related websites. Ensure that they are not directly competing with you, but have the same target audience that you do. You can exchange text links or banner ads.
7. Directories
Submit your link to directories. For example. if you have a vacation home in London, search the web for "vacation home London". Look through the first two pages of results and contact all the website owners that have sites listing multiple vacation homes in London. Provide them with the necessary information about your vacation home and about your site and see if they will list it. Chances are, many of them will be happy to list it for free, because the more that they have listed, the more people will also visit their website.
8. Blogs
Find popular blogs that are related to your website's subject. Frequently post feedback and be sure to include your website's address. Ensure that the feedback is genuine and useful, so it is not viewed as spamming. Give helpful comments, so that people are more likely to visit your website.
9. E-books
If you are well versed in the topic of your website then you may consider writing an e-book. Once completed, publish it, allowing anyone to use and reproduce it, as long as they leave it unchanged. Ensure you have a few links to your website throughout the e-book as part of the original purpose.
Let everyone in your network know that the e-book is available and where they can download it from.
10. Freebies
Have a freebie that would be of value to visitors of your website. Then post information about your freebie on various websites.
Remember, promote, promote, promote! The more links your website has, the more potential business you can get. Try to spend at least two hours a week promoting your website.
